    Howdy,

New here, not very tech savvy, but sure glad to have found this website! I have a 2005 grand prix GT and have recently been thinking of doing some modifications, mostly to the exterior lights.

I would like to replace the old halogens with an HID system and I have a question. I can't seem to decide between the 6000k or 8000k systems. I like the bluer cast to the 8000's, but I've read that they don't work that great in the rain. Is this true or not? What do you guys have?

Second, I was thinking of replacing the front and tail light assemblies. I found a couple of sites that offer these, but they don't offer much in the way of projection lights. I've seen the spyder projection lights and read reviews here that they are not good at all. I have found places that sell (what seems to be much better projector lights) for older grand prixs - 2003 and older. Why is this? Do us guys with newer grand prixs just have to wait until something better comes on the market?

I've also seen the anzo LED tail lights and these don't seem to have as bad of reviews. One member here has a picture of them on his black grand prix and they look pretty nice, but not the same as the pictures I've seen of the different colour schemes available. Any more thoughts on these?

Thanks for any and all help, assistance and comments in advance!

i like my 8000k's and would pick them again. the blue looks great. they kinda fade in the rain if you really pay attention, but they're worlds better than halogen and if you're worried about it, you can upgrade foglights. as for projectors... there really aren't any for the 05+ crowd. i don't know why, but there are a few guys that have done a morimoto mini projector retrofit... basically puts a projector in the stock housing. i don't really have any input on the taillights. i tinted mine and was done with them
99 GT - top swapped, S2X cam. - sadly, sold
    96 Firebird Formula - T-tops and exhaust leak. 14.26 @ 97.8 - sold
2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS - stock, in all of it's turbocharged awesomeness

    Hi Poil336,

Thanks for the feedback and opinions. I am thinking about the 8000's and if I do, should I go with the 35 watt?

I find it very strange why the older pontiac gran prixs have more modifications available than the newer models. Seems like every car I've owned, I'm in the wrong years for available mods.

That's exactly the reason why its to new of a car companys that make the mods have to wait a little to see if the car it self is going to be popular enough to make more mods available for it other wise they will just be losing money.

Think of it this way remember the new retro style thunderbird that was suppose to be the best thunderbird out there well no its gone and I have only seen about 3 or 4 in person there would be tons of warehouses full of unsold accessories for that car if they would of just said well new car came out make accessories for it immediately.
