The AC in my 2002 grand Prix works some what on the drivers side but is warm on the passengers side. I looked at the little things that tell the air which way to go and they're working on both sides. What could be my issue? How do I trouble shoot? Also I used to have the dual climate control stick things but converted to the single temperature control knob. The AC turns on one side but not the other so I don't think my swapping parts had anything to do with it. I'm guessing an AC leak or something.

Yeah its cool on the drivers side but not cold cold and the passenger side is warm but not super hot just warm. The little vacuum round things move and the doors that direct the air moves on both sides.

Does the single knob setup control the originally dual setup properly? Seems to me that it might not work properly since you'd have two different outputs from the dual and likely not the single. Typically when I've looked into HVAC head conversions, it's not possible based on the lack of signal etc.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Well it works fine on one side and I can watch the actuator move to cold on the drivers side. And when I do the same thing on the passenger side it doesn't move. All the other buttons work perfectly on the new unit. The problem is isolated to the passenger side only. Which makes me believe the signal is fine if one actuator is responding to said signal and the other is not. The hvac head unit has same plugs and everything. The pins on the head unit are identical so who knows o_O should have left it that way I guess.

Yes I get cold air but only on one side. So the compressor should be fine how do I check it? Just to be sure.

The center should be spinning when it's engaged.

Where would I look for the a/c compressor and what does it look like?

Figured I'd bump this up, as I'm having a similar issue. Cool air on driver's an side, warmish air on passenger side.

I bought the car used recently, and it seems the sliders on the dual control are missing, however I found a pin that will grab the sliders.

I can make the temperature on driver side change, and it seems the passenger side will only go from warmish to warmer. Compressor is working (as far as I can tell). Would replacing the control unit get the other side to blow cool?

Thought I'd ask questions before I just do it and waste the money!

    Thanks for any help

The control unit with the dual sliders actually has two wires that control the left and right side or the passenger side and the driver side. And those two wires are the white/black wire and the light blue wire which you can see coming from the climate control unit its on the plug that's towards the middle. now I'm not exactly sure if your problem is related to the climate control module or if its the blend door actuator on the passenger side. You could test two wires I was talking about coming from the climate control unit and what you would be looking for is when you turn the sliders up or down there would be a varying voltage or difference in the voltage supply to each motor. For example I believe if I remember correctly that for the passenger side when you turn it down real low the voltage is at around 12 volts and when you turn the heat all the way up the volts go to about 2 volts and that's how the motor knows how it needs to turn. However the drivers side is the complete opposite. If you turn the heat all the way up the voltage for the driver side will reach around 12 volts and if you turn the AC on full blast you will get around 2 volts. So if you end up having to replace the climate control unit you can only get the one that's made for your car which has the 2 sliders because none of the other ones will be compatible even though they will fit in the console. The reason being is that with our cars have 2 blend door actuators. Cars that have different climate control units only have one blend door actuator which means that they only have one wire that comes from the circuit board on the climate control unit there for that one wire will only control the driver side and it will not be able to control the passenger side which is why you need the ones with the two sliders because I found that out the hard way that you can't swap them cause I've tried it before and I wouldn't want you to spend the extra money that I had to. If you're up to it you can swap the blend door actuators and see if its just the passenger side blend door actuator and see if it is broken. You could do that by swapping the driver side and the passenger side because they're interchangeable or you could simply just buy a brand new one for the passenger side (about $30 at rockauto.com) and see if that fixes your problem which would be the cheaper way to go because the climate controls head unit will run you around 60 to 80 dollars on eBay. Keep in mind that the driver side blend door actuator is a little more difficult to get to then the passenger side passenger side only requires you to take out the glove box.
