well i happened to be under the car today when i was changing my motor mount and doing an oil change and wouldnt you fckn believe it, i dont have a cat!!! i guess one of the previous two owners must have cut it out so that might be the cause of the strong smell of gas, but it still does the bogging and it still smells like gas big time iether the rear 02 is trying to over compensate for no cat and its making the computer run rich or maybe the bogging is the computer running lean. but i got my headers in and just need the o2 sim for that rear sensor and ill be good to go.

also what would the computer do if i disconnect the rear 02, will it go into open loop like on start up, or would it go from one extreme (i.e. rich to lean) to the other

But still doesn't explain why it bogs after warm up. I'm thinking that since the rear o2 isn't getting the correct reading since there isn't a cat on that it is trying to get the pcm to trim fuel. The cat burns the excess fuel and with no cat the rear o2 is getting a reading like its running rich. Chime in if anybody else has an opinion

that's my guess anyways. you could always just replace it, it's like a $40 part. and if that's not it, return it lol. hard part is getting the old one out, nice can of PB blaster would help. with it being a 97 it might have gone bad anyways, mine's a 99 and it's ate two MAF's and the front O2

ya I have an extra one from my t/a, they both use the same 4 wire heated bosch sensors but I'm just gunna get a o2 sim anyways so no biggy. Wat would happen if I just disconnect it though, would it cause the pcm to run lean or would it just go into open loop mode
