I may be doing this at some point in the next month or two. How much time would you say it took? I've taken dashes apart before but that was at the dealership where I had some extra tools and an extra hand when needed.

i did use the prestone brand super flush. however, this car hasn't had it's coolant changed/touched/anything in eleven years. it's a mess. i think that's why the first round of flushing didn't help much.

that was it! i disconnected both heater hoses from the engine. then forced about 40psi of air back through the return side on the engine. the return was also clogged.

    now there is hot air!

Can the car be driven with the center console out? Didnt know if the P or N switch had to be plugged in for it to start or to get it out of gear?

Figured there was good info in this thread, so thought I would ask to keep the info all in 1.

I will give it a shot and find out.

GTPINSC - Thanks for the pics! I have to do my heater core on my 99 Grand Prix. You just saved me a whole lot of trouble investigating how to take apart the puzzle! Many thanks!

RANDYBILL - Good suggestion on flushing the system before installing the new core. I would have never thought about that.

I have a long list of fixes on my 99. Power windows, heater core, power mirrors, power sun roof. That’s just what I know about. Oh yeah, the radio was just shoved into the dash and is not connected to anything.

I will post photos of my tear down and repairs as I make progress (or cause more irreparable damage) to help aid others as well.

    Thanks again man!
