The TR55GP is a standard temperature platinum plug, essentially a stock alternative to delcos. I use NGK plugs and K&N Filters on all of my bikes so I simply went the same direction on my GP. Have to admit once I ditched the stocker stuff for what I have, I clearly have more power on demand and when I punch it over 3k on the tach and keep going I can tell it’s breathing much better and firing more smoothly. Really simple stuff made pretty noticeable differences.![]()
thats interesting but i guess the newer cars or maybe just being n/a is it. being s/c, the tr55's are two heat ranges colder and should be used when we force more air into the motor. on my t/a with a cam and intake i was running tr-6's, but i should've went to stock plugs or maybe even hotter when i went with larger injectors to make sure i was getting a good burn.
hey boys mine has the same problem and had a cat replacement done 1 month ago. Chugging still happens. I tried the disconnect battery tick for at least 5 hrs (I leave it overnight and that cures it for about 1week and a half then the chugging rado0mly appears). I read 04 and 05 have this problem with no know cure so was wondering if an 06 or up pcm swap would fix it. Keep up the feed back cause im sure 1 of us will come up with the fix. too bad cause this is pissing me off to the point of trading the car in for an import
ps also my key restart still fixes it
Hi davisg,
I didn't know if you still had your Grand Prix or not, but had another member on this site reply that he finally found a fix to that Chugging that we both were having with our Grand Prix.
From surferstick:
I had the stock PCM reflashed to the updated code mentioned in the TSB. It's now been months, and not a single problem since, so this fixed it for sure. Even better, the car now feels as strong as my old 99 did. I always felt I lost some power when I traded my 99 GT for this 05 GT, and now I've got my missing power back too.
Happy New Year folks.
I haven't gotten mine flashed yet, but will check into it.
Just wanted to pass this along to ya.
Later....... Steve!
I think it cost $60.00. It wasn't much anyways.
