That Im not sure about. But, if you have not signed the finance papers, i.e. settled the contract for payment, then I cannot see how you would be stuck with it. That said, if you have a warranty with it, why would they not replace it under warranty? I would get it in writing or something like that if they tell you they will. Though I understand that a problem like that would make you a bit skittish about the deal.

Be straight up and honest with them and see what the reaction is. Its a used car. Tell them you are not going to finish signing anything until the transmission is taken care of. But I would be cautious that they just patch the issue and not fix it.

Let us know how it turns out for you.

There a few things you may want to look for which we had go wrong in our 05 GT.
    1) Drivers side carpet: it is not molded to the floor correctly it is too small so it tears we had it replaced once and within a year it ripped again. I will buy one myself somewhere else when it gets replaced the 3rd time.
    2) Sun roof leaked and I believe the cowl leaked. The sunroof was a clogged drain and the cowl they replaced a part with a newly designed part.
    3) The passenger leather seat: they designed the seat belt holder wrong causing the seat belt to rub through the leather seat. They replaced the seat cover and the seat belt holder with a newly designed piece.
If any of this pertains to your car I hope it helps.
