I have only had the 06 GXP for a month now and I noticed something. I have the DIC set to horn and lights when I lock it. When I press the button, I only get the lights to flash. Anyone have any theories as to why the horn does not chirp? I use that chirp as confirmation that the vehicle is locked as I park it and walk away.

Umm, I'm willing to bet your iroc has manual door locks

Try changing it to another setting then back again.

Have you used the horn yet?

Yes I did test the horn after I realized it was not chirping. The IROC has electric door locks, but you are right it does not have a fob to unlock the doors remotely. That was the old days when you had to actually walk up to the car insert the key then turn it to gain entry. I love modern technology.

I'll try setting it to lights only then lock and unlock it a few times. Then I'll set it back to lights and horn. Good idea thanks for the help.

You have to push the button twice for it to honk. My silverado was the same way even on the lights and horns setting. When you lock it once hit it again within a couple seconds and it should honk at you. Your welcome.

I have tried to hit the button twice in a row, but it takes so long in between when the button finally sends the signal to the car. I have had several GM vehicles in the past. This one just does not react quick enough. I have to hold the button for several seconds when locking before it actually locks and flashes the lights. I'll check the housing for the battery in case it is loose. I've read in this forum that could be an issue related to my problem.
