Sorry that my first post is a cry for help, but I'm kind of limited on time so I can't really post in the Introduction section.

Ok, I'll start by saying I'm no mechanic...

I just got this car a little over a week ago ('97 GT)...
My window will go all the way down without a problem, but won't go all the way up! It would stop midway for a while and I'd have to wait a few minutes before it would go the rest of the way up.

I rolled it down a little this morning on the way to work, and it did not want to go back up.

It's not stuck like it's caught on something, it's more like an "electronically-controlled" stuck

It goes up somewhat slowly, but not bad enough to make me think the motor is completely dead. But like I said, I'm no mechanic

Also, I found that if I tap the window-down button just enough for it to make that initial "click" sound but not move, then press the window up button, it will go up about half a cm... Took a while to close that window

    Any ideas?

I think you kinda answered your own question there,

It sounds like your power motor is on its way out, from what I heard, the Grand Prix's have a few issues with short window motor life, Mine go up and down pretty slow and with effort, i'd assume they will be stopping half way in the middle in a few months,

Ive never replaced the window motors in a Grand Prix before, but have in other vehicles. If you are slightly mechanically inclined, you might save yourself on some labour costs at the shop, but if your afraid of a wrench, it might be a few hundred to get that fixed.

they really are not hard to do, Im sure you can grab a chiltons manual with a walk through step by step, or you can just start taking things apart and hope you dont have extra screws when it goes together

As for buying the motor, for things like this, it IS NOT worth tryin to save a few bucks and picking up a used one at a scrap yard, you'll just be back soon after, best bet is a dealership (for quality, NOT cost)

Will a window motor for a 4-door GP work for my 2-door GT? Those seem to be easier to find.

I put a write up in the how to section on doing this, haven't had time to take door apart and take pictures but should help a little. As long as it's a motor issue and not a regulator issue any motor will work, you'll have to disassemble the motor from the regulator sprocket but it's not too hard. Make sure you put a screwdriver between the motor and the sprocket housing so the white sprocket doesn't fall out. If it does then you'll have to spend another 20 minutes trying to rethread the cable. You'll also need a set of star tips to get the door panel off.
debadged, clear corners, 20% tint, tinted tails, vibrant performance tips, red painted calipers, Fig. grills, autometer guages, PFYC 3 pod A pillar, SLP CAI, 2.5" DP, SD Hood, SD front air damn, Gen I spoiler, 17X8 Borbet Type M rims, engine upgrades soon!
