Hey i drive a 2000 gtp. Lately i've heard a distinctive noise during acceleration. The Noise sounds like a card in the back tire of your younger brothers mountain bike when he's driving it somewhat fast. This noise doesn't happen everytime i accelerate. Sometimes i will hear a clean whine from my supercharger without this odd noise, and other times it will be the noise. I've heard that a bad coupler can create a noise that sounds like rocks ratteling in a can at idle, but my car doesn't make noise at idle other than how it should sound. One thing that i was thinking is that i have to change my SC oil , i don't think it's been changed for a few years. But that being said please don't jump to the conclusion that, that's why it's making the noise on acceleration. I just want to keep open minded incase that's not why. It still may also possibley be the coupler ? Please leave me some opinions. Thanks !

I don't have a younger brother and have never seen a card on a bike. Does that mean it's a flappy noise?

I always put a card in my spokes when I was younger lol.

I just enstalled the speed daddy headers, and your explaining 99% of what I've been hearing, (But mine always makes the sound under ecceleration), like Bio said, exhaust leak.

Perhaps the baffles in your mufflers no longer exist?

Do you hear it at idle and with accel'n?
I had the same sound at idle, and was thinking it was a sticky lifter, after letting it cool, checked things out and found that all the screws on the front and rear header needed another good full turn to tighten. Now the sound is only on accel'n.....

I don't have any aftermarket exhaust parts yet. All i have is a Cold Intake. I have headers coming it about a week. Ill see if the noise is gone once i put them on. If it's not gone is this noise something i should worry about? Or will i be ok. I just hate to accelerate fast and hear this noise, it sketches me out.

It's all how you seal them up, I have the SD headers and they leaked.

I installed my SD headers, and moved up for a certification exam 2 days later (away from tools for 2 wks). I can tell you that I dont have any leaks where it bolts at the head, I still have a small leak somewhere, when I get back home, I am going to go through each slip joint and add a "fair" amount of RTV again, and see if anything is lose. Im hoping my the small leak is at the EGR which I may just end up deleting. It's really how you seal them up, there are alot of ppl on here with the SD headers, that have NO leaks at all. It takes patience, I was pressed for time, I'm not worried about not having them completely sealed up.

    Any update on this thread??
I've put so much RTV around the EGR and rear cross-over and still getting a clicking/clacking noise (and only since SD header install). Car still sounding like a tractor.

Don't know but I have been having this ticking noise for a couple weeks now..well before I did any upgrades. Again only hearnig it when I accelerate as well. Kinda hard to pinpoint it when I can't hear it unless I am driving.
