Hey this is pretty urgent . My car just stalled a bit ago because i was running it on low oil in the hot sun. I bought new oil and put 5W in with the little bit of 10W that was left. My car is running good but is that bad that i mixed a lot of 5W with a little bit of 10W. Or should i say will it eventually dilute together?

No you are fine. today all oil is may better than before, 5w30 will work fine but i just like to use what the engine says to use. Really right now you prolly have it running with 7w30 or 8w30 with the mix you have. You will be fine.

id be more concerned about why the car was that low on oil. mixing it wont hurt anything.

When was the last time you pulled the dipstick?

How much oil did you have to add?

i've been wondering why the series II calls for 10W-30 and the series III calls for 5W-30. what's the difference between the two engines? i figure it'd be safe even for my GTP to start running 5W-30.

Todays oil are much better designed and can handle these engine better. It all comes done to better technology. I run what is says just because I want to, but it should not matter at all.

true. although there are many engines that are older that call for 5W-30. i just wondered why GM requires 10W-30 for series I and II 3800's. are their clearances and tolerances bigger for some reason? i don't understand why they wanted the oil thicker when cold. i think i'll start using the 5W-30.

15w40 Semi Synthetic blend in everything I own that isn't 2 stroke or an ATV. I don't have oil related problems.

You mixing, as already stated, won't hurt a thing.
