well they say if both are stock Gen5 has about 20 extra horses, But when you port your Gen 3 its about even with the Gen5. That's from what I've heard.

I ported my Gen3 Blower and stuck on a 3.4 pulley and the thing whines and rips hard.

Also You need to rig a Gen3 throttle body to fit the Gen5 Because The throttle bodys are different. So your looking at around over 300-400 for the Gen5 blower vs 100 or so for a Gen3 then port it.
and a different Intake manifold is also required.

I ported my intake and supercharger when i had them apart and out of the car.

to justify wasting money on a genV you need a decent setup to go with it. youll only gain a bunch from it when youre already pretty heavily modded. for a normal person running a 3.4 and headers its a waste of money.

^^^exactly. you can only handle so much boost. if a genIII can give you that boost, then there's no need for a genV.

Porting and smoothing the inlet can be done. You can port the outlet for some gains. If you plan on intercooling then while you're in there go ahead and remove the h-bar and machine the LIM.

I wouldn't say it'll hurt. If you do that you may as well machine the LIM to match. Go to zzperformance.com and look at a pic of their machined LIM and you'll know what I mean. Also since there will be more volume added under the blower with the area opened up you'll probably have to pulley down to maintain the same level of boost.

Putting a Gen V on by itself is like adding an intercooler. It's a great early mod.

Porting a Gen 3 is like getting a bandaid when you cut your leg off. Huge difference. I've done a lot of both being an installer. The tuning, power and changes overall from a Gen V far outweight any porting done to Gen 3's.

yeah but the genv sounds so much better and its more efficient... to an extent i guess. i suppose if youre mildly going to mod i would advise no genv but if you really want to work your engine a genv is a good idea.

With Gen V pricing being pretty good these days. I'd suggest it.

Lower temps = less KR. Why pump heat into your motor when you can pump in cool air?

I ported, I polish, I learned everything about the hardest ways possible.

Take a ported Gen 3 and a Gen V. Run them the same and then pop both hoods. Put your hand on the Gen V. warm, you could keep your hand on it..but not going to burn you. Gen 3... can't keep your hand there, it would burn you.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
