I did it, and broke the front plastic dash piece. I found a new one online for forty bucks though. Good luck. It is not too bad of a job to do. I remember checking everything electrical that could have possibly been related to the nonexistent HUD display. Then I found the how to. Peace

I have the same problem, when i look down thru the windshield nothing is lit up. I have only had the car for a week and it hasnt worked at all. Today while trying to figure out the problem i found a small black module looking thing with fins that was unplugged. I plugged it in and the hud came on........for about 2 minutes then went out again. I checked the connection at what i thought was the hud module and later found out it is the drl diode. Connection was good but the diode was very hot, so i took it out to inspect and re-installed once it cooled down.......hud works again, for about 2 minutes. Is the drl diode in anyway connected to the hud?????

this is a pic of the spring that was broken on my HUD, i just re drilled a new hole in the plastic near where it broke off of. i can't answer your question about the drl diode, but i'm sure somebody on here can.

I dont think so except for the dimming function but theres a reason it has that much heat sinking.

Well it must have just been coincidence that the drl diode had anything to do with it. I went to work yesterday with the diode off the car and the hud worked for a few minutes and then disappeared. Is that a normal occurence for this spring issue?
