I'm porting my personal Gen 3 this saturday. (I was going to do it a week ago but there wasn't a mill open to use) Basically I have two questions for anyone who has ported a supercharger or two in the past.

    1. Is there any gains from sealing the slits? Or is this a bad idea, i've seen a thread on it but nobody really came to a conclusion.

    2. What stuff did you guys use for filler? I bought some JB weld but I have heard it may not be the best for the job. Please, if you answer this, tell me an EXACT product and who carries it. Theres a TON of epoxies and stuff out there.

    Thanks!

sealing the slits isnt really worth it in the end. your part throttle whine will increase, but overall WOT whine is the same. you also risk chunks of whatever you seal it with falling into the motor if they come loose. id skip it all together.

i used an aluminum epoxy that comes in a tube at the counter at napa. im not sure of the name, but its a two piece 'stick' that you have to knead the two sections together and then apply it. it will harden and you can machine it just like metal.

make your inlet and outlet look like this (minus the sealed slits):

So people only do it to make the blower louder on part throttle? There is no actual flow increase or decrease? That sounds silly.

Exactly...it is just there to make it whine louder...it is silly. I'd rather have a quieter blower than a engine with pieces of metal flying around in it.
