First of all I am new to the forum but not to Grand Prix's....I owned a 2000 GT Sedan(totalled) as well as a 2000 GTP coupe(totalled) and now I have a 2000 GTX coupe that I just bought. Now I am getting a couple of issues with it...during night driving the gauges and climate control lights up as it is supposed to but after a bit of driving the lights go out and it goes back to daytime mode and the HUD and information center get a little brighter. Does anybody know what is the issue and what I can do to fix it?
In addition to that my headlights seem dangerously dim...I already have a little bit of trouble driving at night due to my eyes and the dim headlights aren't helping. Any suggestions on how to fix them on a college budget? (I am not ready for HID's or projectors yet)

i think the sensor on the dash is bad

silverstars are $40 a pair and they are alot brighter than factory halogens

Is the sensor under that small dome on the dash? How hard would that be to replace?

    Here's the site:

    http://www.hidxtra.com/d4/d4.html

    Login: hid
    Password: hid8547

It's not suppose to be a "public" site, only for "special" customer's. The way I see it, all of us here at gpf.com are "special" Check it out if you don't have HID's already, or are looking for a different set. On their site, they show up to 12000k. They do not offer 15000k as of right now, but do carry 30000k for certain bulb types. I wasn't too sure how the 30000k would look (they say it's pretty close to purple), so I just went with some more 12000k.

hmm ok, I will try to take a look at that sensor and maybe try and get at it.

I couldn't get that login and password to work for some reason but I think I will just go with the silverstars right now.

i wouldnt waste my money on silver stars to be quiet frank..our headlights are a poor design to start with..and HIDS are cheaper and are prob 20 mins of work....

The HIDextra sets are pretty decent. The output is great. I've had mine in for a few months, now with no problems.
