i use mobile 1 synthetic with a mobil 1 filter. probably will change every 5-6k miles. Got something in the mail the other day saying the newer GM vehicles are good for 8-10k between oil changes.

True, I can confirm that. I have extrapolated my OLM a few times and it always puts me at ~9k mile oil changes. My personal worry is that I don’t see many oils that advertize 10k oil changes. But at the same time I do know GM fully stands by their OLM. Even thought they use a fairly robust algorithm for the OLM, it can’t compensate for all the variables.

yeah. The only harm that will come from doing an early oil change is to my wallet. I can deal with that

I use the NAPA Gold 1036 oil filter. They are 40% off right now as they are every spring. I buy enough for a year. I use conv 10w-30 Napa in the spring through fall or so and switch to 5w-30 for the MN winters. Their oil is also on sale now for $1.99/qt.
