    Ok,
So, I know I am doing a crazy mad system (sound system) in my car... I have a Rockford Fosgate regulator that I am installing (thing was basically given to me and I figure why not use it)... I just am not sure how to get it wired up so it turns on only when the car is in the ON position... not ACC.... otherwise I would just connect it to the Remote wire off the head unit... anyone ever messed with the ignition switch wires and know what one may be the best to pig tail off and were is the best, closest way to get to it near the head unit??
    Thanks,
    Timmi

the remote wire is supposed to go to the head unit, there is a wire just for that.
why would you want to wire it like that?

hold on hold on... your missing what i am doing.. this is not the amp that i am wiring to the ignition.. this is the regulator... its a deal that controls the charge going to my second battery.. I only want it to come on and charge my second battery when the car is on.. not when I am sitting in the driveway cleaning it and have it in ACC... lol.

i just installed a remote starter with the help of my factory service manual, so ignition wiring info is fresh in my head. your looking for a wire that is only on when the key is on, correct? if so, you will want to tap into the orange wire in the ignition harness. if you also want voltage when your key is turned backwards to the "accessory" position, you will want the brown wire instead. if you dont get the results you want with either option, no matter what, do not splice the 2 wires together.

what i would do if i were you is just use a constant 12 volt wire with a toggle switch for your application. in the ignition harness, the red and red/white wires are both 12 volt constant

if you need anything else just let me know

orange wire... thats what I needed... also... do I have to go into the steering column to find it or is it accessable from under the dash area on the drivers side?? I assume yes... just curious.

you wont need to remove the steering wheel column, but you will need to remove the stuff underneath it.

you start with a little carpet piece thats held in with only 2 fasteners. then the next piece is held in by 2 screws (which are right next to those 2 fasteners you just undid) and 3 fasteners that just pull out on the top. after removing these 2 piece you SHOULD have enough access to the ignition wires. if not theres 1 more piece you can remove, it will be the black steel piece you now see. it is held in by 2 screws and 4 bolts... the bolts are absolutely impossible to get to without extensions, jtlyk
