Get a cam, headers, ported blower and then maybe you'd need a new TB.

ZZ's stage one and two TB's tend to idle like **** from what I've heard. Just go for the LS1 throttle body.

there is no reason to ever buy a modded stock throttle body when it takes a half hour to hog one out yourself. if youre going to buy one buy the ZZP 78mm TB, a northstar setup, or an ls1 setup. i never liked the feel of any of them, but the stocker so thats why i just ported mine by myself.

you dont really need a bigger throttle body until you get to the 3.0 pulley area, which is usually achieved with an intercooler and rockers/cam. even then its not going to net you that much power if any at all.

dont waste money on the stage ones, just buy a northstar, you will need a tune because the maf sensor is moved, as well as an extension harness for the IAT sensor. a new intake like i have on my car would be a good idea too. you will notice better throttle response, plus now you have an inline maf not a fruity one like stock

you do not get throttle response from a northstar. i wish people would stop saying that.

the northstar setup has a linear plate movement while the stock setup is progressive (opens less with less throttle, more with more throttle). i hate the feel of the linear plate movement as youre into boost by touching the pedal with your big toe. HATED it.

I can see how linear would be nice for a decent N/A engine but not if you're boosted.

I agree... however, I had to change from my 3" FWI to a 4" .... since I am cammed and its choking, I am going to have start looking for a new MAF since im starting to Max it out now. Never had this issue, until i went cammed and put on the 3.3"

Is there a good write up with pics showing what to hog out somewhere?

yes, but its so easy to do on your own. in fact, if you sent me a throttle body with $20 taped to it id do it for you. it takes like an hour.

I like the N* feel at part throttle, you barely have to touch the gas. Its kind of stupid though when you feel you give 80% then you go 100% and the car doesn't go any faster.

Doesnt matter anyways, the pcm around 80% throttle just goes into WOT fueling anyways.

Do have any pics of what we are supposed to do? I've got a dremmel and access to a die grinder. I haven't taken the TB off to look at it to see what's needed.

Are you talking about knocking down walls, just smoothing somthing down, or enlarging the bore?

    THANKS!

on the stock throttle body you cant enlarge it much more than stock without breaking through the outside of the casting, which youll probably do in some areas anyway since its so thin to begin with. if you look down the throttle body, any part that is exposed farther out than the overall diamter of the casting youre going to want to smooth out so it is completely round. the main thing here that is in the way is going to be the MAF hump in the upper center.

when you start taking material away, youll break through the casting like the majority of us have when porting. i just used some aluminum epoxy and smoothed everything out so it was round and straight through with nothing exposed in the way of the air path. other than that just smooth everything out and let it be. you can enlarge the backside of the throttle body that is behind the throttle plate, but it only helps if the blower is machined out to be the same size so i left mine alone. make sure you DO NOT touch anything near where the throttle plate will seal.
