I know. Someone much have broke into my garage while I was at work and fixed whatever it was...actually the bad part is, I'm sure I'll find it doing the same thing once hot. Why? Because now that I know there is clunk potential, I'll constantly be popping the hood and shaking the pulley.I can't help myself.
I need to get the car put back together quickly and need to know something about tolerances. After pulling the snout, it seems to be solid. The coupler looked fine too. With the rotors still attached, if I pull out on the two rotor gears, there seems to be the slightest amount of play. I can't really feel them move but if I push and pull on them, I can hear a slight tap. Is this normal?
I'm putting in a new coupler anyway, but don't know if I can leave the car down long enough to wait for the new set of rotors with rotor plate to show up.
fwiw the fluid was indeed clear in color and there was no metal pieces. If I were desperate enough, and didn't have fluid, there would be no worries reusing the old stuff.
