Has anyone done any research or come up with a conclusion on why the power windows on the GP fail? Other then just a piece of dung? I am currently on my second regulator, motor and switch. Drivers window will go down but usually when cold and or wet the window will not go back up. It's been real intermittant recently and usually if I let it sit for a couple of minutes it will go up. Sometimes it just needs a budge but recently that's not helping. I'd hate to put in a new regulator and motor and switch my current ones are only a tad over a year old.

aftermarket ones are low quality typically, the grounds for the doors on most cars are suspect (doesn't matter brand or type as most cars use the same supplier for regulators) a poor ground will make the motor work harder, and go into thermal protect. Also see if you are getting water in the harness

First, I moved this over to the Tech Lounge.

Second, my windows have done this as well, but it is extremely intermittent. I can count on my hands the number of times it has done this and this is what I have noticed:

    1. Seems to do it only when it is really cold outside, I dont recall it ever doing this in the spring and summer.
    2. Only seems to happen when I use the auto down feature. If I dont use that, it doesnt seem to happen.
    3. Only the drivers side window is having the issue.

I havent replaced anything as of yet because Ive been too chicken to tear into it and do so. But I guess I'll have to do it before long before it breaks for good while Im out chasing a storm and its raining buckets and Im trying to run from a twister or something. Though the Grand Prix will see much less such duty now that I have the suv.
