The other day, I went to roll the windows down, and the rear passenger side window made some awful popping, grinding noise. Today I decided to take the door panel off to see what the heck happened. Well, after digging around I saw the cable in there was jacked. So I ordered my new window regulator today. Good times!

I ended up finding a brand new one for $35 shipped (ebay!), so even if I have to replace it in a year or two, it'd be worth it to me for that price. And in all honesty,I dont think Im gonna keep the car for that much longer.

You just wasted your money. I bought the exact one and installed it and 2 window cycles later it broke the same way. Ended up going to the yard and getting a good used one for $30 and havent had any problems yet after over 1 1/2 years later.

I have! I actually did it twice to my drivers side front window. The first time it broke the plastic that hold one end of the cable, so I drilled a new hole and remounted the cable. Worked fine. I think the 2nd time was when I was removing the bad motor. When it broke again I finally just bought a new reg/motor assembly and lubed the sh*t out of the guides. No problems so far.

And yes, it was time consuming and a PITA. I don't recommend it unless you are very determined and have time to kill.

It looks like a PITA and i am not sure how determined I am... I am cheap though and don't have a couple hundred bucks to drop for a whole new assembly.

There are tracks on the wheel ... do I need to be ultra worried about keeping the cable in the tracks?

That's what mine Have looked like if the regulator failed. Definitely replace with a good used one, can order from morad. Skip eBay or any other new regulator.

Yes. You need to keep the cables in the tracks or it will either not go back together or will bind once assembled.
