Ignition problem

I have a 98 GP GT. my son called from school and said he turned the key, the lights came on briefly then went off, now the car won't start and he can't get the key out. Any thoughts on what we should look at?

Do a search...... trick to get key out.

also just sounds like a dead battery.....

ThankS UR LOSN, my son is in another state so I will tell him to start with checking the battery. Also could it be the BTSI fuse and where is it located?
