    BT:

My 07 just turned over 31k tonight, and the fluid is pretty and pink. I have read in several places that trans fluid simply getting darked does not necessarily mean it is worn out.

If it runs and shifts ok, since you have the balance of the 5yr 100k powertrain warranty just keep an eye on it.

why wait for it to fail? He did the right thing by changing it out now. It is called preventative maintenance. If it is brown that fast, it could have been overheated once or many times. This usually means that the tranny fluid is breaking down and does not have the same properties that it had when it was new. If you continue to have the coolant overheat, look into getting a stand alone tranny cooler.
