got some silicone sheets to make my own sc gasket....what i wanna know if can i not cut out the passage between the lim and sc for the egr to block it off so i dont have to worry about the ebr blockoff plate on my LIM leaking?? is this safe or can that piece eventually get sucked out?

The problem is that the air under the silicone would be at atmospheric pressure. Exposing the other side of the silicone to vacuum can't be good for it, not even accounting for the temperature changes messing with the pressures. Better to just cut a hole.

If you're already sure that it's blocked off and just want added assurance, I suppose you could do it that way. I'm with Scimmia though. I don't know how strong the silicone is when laid across an entire hole like that and asked to deal with differential pressures. It's meant to be squeezed between two parts.

The hole isnt that big, the silicone is pretty strong. Id do it, thats all im saying, its your choice as always. If your gonna block it off anyways dont cut the hole.

Where did you pick up this bottom silicone sheet from. I'm aware of the ones at target, but I'd like to take a look at this one as well.
