Well i got a call from the gm dealer today about why my gp was starting then stalling and they asked where the screen was for the throttlebody, according to them the air turbulence will cause it to run rich and throw the airfuel ratio wacko. should I believe them?

Mine has a slightly rough idle with the stock air tube on it and no screen, but still runs fine under throttle. if you just removed the screen may consider putting it back on until you get an intake with a smooth tube. Alot of people have removed the screen with no problems, but i think they all did the smooth intake.

if all else, put the screen back on, start it, let it warm up and if it has a rough idle still you know its something else

its $105 for the screen and snapring, wreckers around here will not sell it without selling the throttlebody for 300.

You could just go to an auto parts store and get a CAI tube with a 45-70 degree bend for $50-60 and a rubber pipe adaptor for $3.50 that I is think 3" and try that. It worked on mt L36 TB with a screen and has had no problem with the ported L67 TB without the screen as I forgot to put it back in.

I have a open element air filter on the car but when I took it to the dealer they had a GP on the lot so I tried the screen on mine and it smoothed it out and started alot better. so since no wrecking yard will sell me just the screen without the entire TB I had to order it through GM.
You know its kind of funny it started happening when I moved to BC from Manitoba...
