I was looking at cars on cardomain, specifically for painted dashes to get ideas, and there was one guy on there that had a good one, but he also said as a performance mod, he removed the screen from the throttle body. (Like where the air intake is)

He said he gained about 5hp, and increased gas mileage. Would this be something worth looking into, or would there be horrible side effects?

he didnt gain anything from doing it. he is a moron. removing the screen, even if it would allow more flow (which it doesnt), would still screw up your MAF readings because the flow is no longer laminar past it. too big of words? smooth flow, not turbulent.

i never ran one because i never had one, but it helps to have correct MAF readings if you have it. therefore, leave it in.

Car domain does have alot of tools mostly guys that wish their cars where from need for speed underground and want to get as many stars for the underglow neons and performance mods if they can. Not to mention usually heavily puffed quarter mile times. Car domain FTL. Also drag times FTL as well people just need to learn to show the ACTUAL quarter mile slip and stop the bullsh!t. Don't remove the screen it doesn't help flow. Think about it with the screen in the compared to removed it might flow .01% better and not to mention screw with the maf. Leave what came from the factory factory in this case
There is no replacement for displacement........unless you have a supercharger or turbo

2000 Bright Red GTP Coupe GXP axle back, GMPP sway bar, NGK TR6, 180 stat. (Uninstalled Aeroforce Interceptor, DHP PCM, FWI, Gen V on the way) and still no pulley in sight.
