That makes alot of sense. There is a reason GM priced it so high was for exclusivity, with exclusivity there are low sales volumes. Take the MB SL500 for example, 100k, but they don't sell many of them. Does that make it a flop? My parents have a 2008 XLR-V, and it is far from a flop.

I agree the XLR is an awsome car. It is a "Image Builder" for the brand more than anything. I'd love to own one, but probably never will. I want a platform available in 2 door and four door with a possible wagon variation with a V6 and V8 option and my choice of 2WD or AWD. I believe Audi and Mercedes both offer these but my heart is with American made vehicles. Ford even offers an AWD turbo compact in Europe but not here, WHY?

Your responses still don't state why the XLR is a Flop. It was designed as a low production car, and that's what it was.

i think that dropping the 5 speed manual in the light duty trucks was a flop in 2003 i had a silverado regency rst and loved the five speed the new rst's are automatic or i would buy another one of course gm is not the only one who has flopped on this one since ford and dodge has also dropped the manual trans in light duty trucks

It's on my Flop list because I can't afford it! Ok, I'll take that one off, incredible car, and it's priced competitively with it's competition. GM has incredible resources to make the best cars in the world and we end up with the G3? I'm just not sure where their market research has shown them that nuetering and then euthanizing Pontiac was a good idea. I guess I've just got a bad case of hurt butt since I am a loyal Pontiac customer. Hummers are awsome too, but look what happened to them.

I wish they learned to make building high quality parts the top priority, although they along with all other companies have stepped that up this past decade.
That made me laugh... actually in the last 5 years Ford's reliability is WAY up. Putting to shame both GM and especially Dodge. Read all the reviews out there. for the current cars

Ford = reliability getting 8 and 9 out of 10's on most their vehicles. just not always the most interesting. (although the new focus and taurus are a big step in the right direction)

Dodge = looks cool..... horrible dependability (one reviewer said if you had a seabring or a nitro to just bring a tool kit with you everwhere you go)

GM = sorta in the middle of the two.... some good... some bad. Most reliable GM vehicle i believe being the Malibu. on the other hand i think 99% of the aveo's are built in Asia.

No one has mentioned the new volt that was supposed to be GMs push into the electric world and they predicted it to sell very well. Well they put so much money into it that they lose money everytime they sell one....

Granted the Chevy SS won't be the same, but here is a glimpse of what its going to be based on. If they F this up, then you can tack another on to the list.

i like the new commodore SS , but the lower part of the front bumper for some reason keeps reminding me of a hyundai.

I think I'll add some incredibly late 2 cents about the XLR.

It's offensive. For $101,000 your buying a hideous Corvette with a N* V8 that had more power in the STS-V.
OverKilled, HAI, Ported Throttle body, Ported intake, ZZP DP, Magnaflow, BMR ta's, GMPP STB's, CCS springs, tinted tailights, roof rails, TEP cool'r, G8 hood. Glass Gearbox.
