that is false. its not the heat, but it can add to it. if you look up predetonation then youll be able to read up on what it really is. old school guys call knock 'pinging'. basically the crap in the cylinder ignites before the piston reaches top dead center and tries to push the piston back down when it is on it's upstroke. if you have the chance, try listening for it sometime. if youre knocking enough and you listen for it you can almost hear a popcorn popping sound, which is the knock. if you can hear it pretty well, you definately know something is wrong.
