    I was told by the jerk off at fire stone that the laderal link on the gp is bent and needs replacing has anyone ever done this? how hard is it to do whats all involved in doing it?

    I bent up the right pair on my Impala not long after I got it. Backed up into a curb at a bad angle. They're not hard. Remove bolts, remove lateral link rods, put new ones in, put bolts on tool tight (but not all the way tight), lower car, tighten bolts to specs with torque wrench. Have a beer.

    Shouldn't take but an hour or so.

    Let me see if I can find you the torque values...

    110 ft-lbs for the bolt at the knuckle
    103-111 ft-lbs for the bolt at the crossmember.

    funny thing is the so called ASE certified mechanic from fire stone pointed to the lateral linkage and called in a trailing arm..... dumba$$

    Oh, I just noticed your screen name. If you do have an 89, the torque values I just gave you are wrong. I don't have the numbers for your model handy.

    Yeah, I've heard mechanics call the lateral link rods trailing arms before. You're talking about the rods that come out from the center of the car to the knuckle, right?

    yeah it was a hard part to get ahold of too its bent the slightest little bit nothing major but i guess its unsafe(beings it dont pass inspec.)

    because he told me to buy the wrong part. he told me i needed a trailing arm when i actually need the lateral link, you figure he works at a garage he should know what the parts are.......
