so right now my blower motor isn't working...I got it out and put my multimeter to the leads going to it and on speeds 1-4 i get 14v and on 5 I get 0....at first I had all speeds but 1, then I lost 5 and now none work...could it be the resistor i got a different motor and it didn't help...anything will help thanks

you can test the motor by using leads and connecting to the battery.
yes, the resistor can cause this situation that you describe. My resistor was slowly going, first no 1, then 2, then 3/4. used it on 5 exclusively for a few months, but then one day, it stopped working all together. i replaced the resistor and it's working fine now.

something doesn't seem right though cuz I got voltage goin to the motor but it's not workin for some reason....maybe i'll try the resistor and see if that works

problem solved lock if desired....wil pry do a write up for the blower motor as well as the resistor replacment if there isnt already

I cahnged out the blower motor out (probably didn't have to but the old one was rusty so Idid it anyway and cahnged out the blower motor resistor which was the acctual problem...total of 4-5 bolts to take out depending on how hard you want to work.

yea, when the seal at the cowl starts leaking it goes right in to the blower and resister unfortunately

Make sure you put in a cabin air filter. They never put these in GPs from the factory, but the regal one fits just perfect. And it keeps some moisture from getting in and rusting your blower motor.

I'l have to do that...well when it warms up at least..it was like 10 degrees out when i did this and my garage isn't heated and it's just gotten colder

But also a good idea because you have to bend the plastic cowl a little and if it is cold, it could snap pretty easily.

Be glad you have a garage! I dont. I had to replace a wiper a few days ago. Now the window is broke. I can't win! Feel sorry for me at any time now

yeah do a writeup cuz im in the middle of trying to figure out my freakin fans right now. i bought a resister and cant figure out where it goes, bought a control module and it didnt fix the problem and i got a blower motor coming tomorrow

Hi all just wanted to let ya know that I had to do this to my 2000 GT. it was hard getting the bolts out, but i got them, putting the blower resister modual in was a lot easyer. total cost was $175. and a lot of sweat.
p.s. took front passenger seat out to help with removal too.

I have 98 GT. Resistor modul bad. Found new one for $30. Hooked the blower up in the floor and the it works good on all speeds. Now I have to put it all back together. I would like to remove the front pass. seat to make it easier to get to the stuff. Trying to figure that out now. Resistor module was hard to get to the screws (3) holding it in. I took everything out with the front seat in but it was not comfortable. Shirley if I can get all that crap apart with it in, I can figure out how to remove the seat for the re-install.

Here is the deal for all you mechanical wizards out there. (98 GT, 3.8l, manual air control) Please advise.
I changed the resistor. Plugged the motor up while laying in the floor. I was happy, motor ran on all 5 speeds. The next day I got the front seat out and very comfortably put the resistor and motor back in. Turned the key on and the same thing happened, motor only runs on high speed (5). I've got voltage (11+ volts) at the motor leads in all 5 speed settings, so why wont the motor run in all speeds? So I go back to the parts place and get a new motor, plug it in (setting in the floor), get the same thing, motor only runs in speed 5??? Dang, I'm gittin frustrated. So someone suggests maybe I fried the new resistor some way so I go get another brand of resistor (made in Slovenia), plug it in, same deal, only runs on speed 5. There has to be a solution here but I'm getting old and would like to get it fixed so I can ride the GP to the nursing home. I'm looking at fuses today but since I have power at the motor leads I doubt that would have anything to do with it. By the way , the rear window defogger has never worked from day one? It looks to me like "Government Motors" has lost another customer in their "not so bright" future.
