Need quick help!! Is there a fuel pump relay bypass for 2002 GTs?

Is there a way to do a fuel pump relay bypass on a 2002 gt to run it at high speed? I've done the 'bend tab 85' before on my gtp's when having problems with low end fuel issues-- but not sure if a gt pump is wired the same. Trying to rule out fuel pump as cause of my latest problem. Car idles fine for a few minutes of driving then vacuum starts to drop and motor starts surging to the point of stalling. If I'm above 3000 rpm it seems to be able to continue running, not great but at least drive-able. Can't find any vacuum leaks and unplugging maf didn't seem to help.

If you unplugged the maf and it didn't make a difference then try replacing the maf.

dont think that trick works on the na cars.

could be a bad fpr, or you have a vac leak, the evap hose off the tb that splits to a Y, that whole set up cracks and fails, so take a good look at it. spray all lines with carb cleaner or the likes, listen for the idle to jump up or down, depending on the spray you use.

could even be a bad maf acting up.

Problem I have unplugging maf is that I'm running a Mini AFC on it for my 42 injectors, (it's a 02 GT with L32 swap with northstar t/b and maf--mods are in sig below-motor came from my 99 gtp), so does unplugging it skew my fueling trims causing more issues?

I've gone thru 2 cans of carb cleaner and can't find anything. Car starts cold and idles at 20 lbs then drops to 15 lbs after a short drive till hot and then starts surging to 5 lbs. If I get on the gas and keep it above 3k rpm, it seems to clear up, but it strains to keep running, like running out of fuel.

Anyway of testing the regulator without a pressure gauge? Would FPR run better at higher rpms if it was faulty?

it will run like crap with the maf unplugged, but if it runs at all the maf is still bad, or maybe the afc is bad? try unhooking that.

just took it out, ran good for about 15 minutes, temp at 185*, then came to a stoplight and surging started, put it in neutral and kept up revs, drove for a while- felt sluggish and could feel surging at lower speeds. Got back home and surging was bad enough to kill it. Would a bad maf act this way? or should it be running crappy right from the start?

I don't get why it runs good for 15-20 minutes then craps out. I'm going to go scan for codes....I've got an Aerpforce gauge, what should I be looking at while this surging is happening?

My pcm isn't tuned for the 42 injectors- if I unhook the AFC would the pcm be able to cope with it?

thanks Scott, I 'll go check the fuses. Gear code happened I copied my Overkill tune to the GT's pcm. I thought I changed the ratio to what I found when I searched here for it. The 0243 is because I'm running Boost bypass open (disconnected)--been this way for a long time-before I started having this problem. And evap has never been hooked up right--but always ran fine.

Do you know if the gtp fuel pump relay is the same as the gt-- I've got lots of gtp spares

O2 fuse? Didn't know there was one, where is it located?

Fuses are good. swapped out the pump relay...still surging. Had it idling in driveway for about 20 minutes with no problem, put it in reverse and started acting up, back in park and settled down again!?? Took it around the block and drove like crap...barely made home. Unplugged maf and it stumbled a bit but then ran--a little rougher than plugged in. Unplugged AFC and it ran ok at a bit lower rpm, didn't drive it unplugged. Took off the MAF and cleaned it with MAF spray, didnt look dirty at all. Cleared the codes and I'll see what happens tomorrow on my way to work.....hopefully.

Went out a got a new Maf-- good waste of $120, nothing changed. Car still surging after 15-20 minutes of driving and have to keep foot to floor to keep it going. Fuel regulator shows no obvious signs of failure- no fuel coming out of vacuum port and seems to have good vacuum source. So if it is the pump, does it make sense that it doesn't do it when cold and has no problems starting?

Also car's a 2002 GT with s/c L32, can I run a GTP pump without modding it or is there any difference between the 2 -- I know the early GTP pumps were 2 speed but were the 02's?

You need an 01-03 pump to fit the plastic tank in your 02 as the module and ring changed, the 97-00 gtp had the 2 speed venturi syle pump which is why the bending the tab on relay only works for those cars.
