So...after much work on my 2006 GP GT, I got these warnings today. So I have a convoluted question.

    Facts:

1-In the winter, when it is <32 degrees, car had an electrical gremlin I could never chase down. Car ran perfect but sometimes I would get no interior lights, sometimes no gauges, sometimes all the service lights.

2-just disassembled my right rear suspension, and getting the bolts from the strut to the knuckle took lots of hammering, and I may have hit the speed sensor and wire once or twice by accident.

How do I tell the difference? Hub checked out fine when I had it apart.
Will the speed sensor throw the service variable steering warning? Up front when the harnesses went bad only the ABS and traction control lights came on, but never said "service" like it does now.
Is my only option a dealer to get it scanned?

You can unplug the sensor and test it with a multimeter. You should get a resistance reading of between 850-1150 ohms between the leads going to the sensor. Most often when the sensor fails you get an inifinity reading as in no continuity, then replace the hub.
