Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
Just finished installing the valve springs, while I had the compressed air holding the valves up I noticed a pretty good leak coming from the exhaust valve on cyl 3 and a slight one on cyl 4. The valve is straight as far as I can tell by spinning it in the head. Really don't want to pull the head. What are my options?

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
if you got the springs on still tap the valve stem with a mallet, it will seal up.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
I'll have to try it again I did that originally but didn't change. While I have the engine out what's everyone's opinion on zzp's heavy duty flex plate? And the miziere water pump? Currently have the single roller, xp cam and 90s going on right now just don't want to pull it out again anytime soon.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
Zzp says the hd flex plate is hd, but it looked oem to me when I put it in

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
I think it's the quality of the steel

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
if the engines out, turn it to the side, valves cant fall down like that.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
Didn't think of that but they are already installed.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
Has anyone installed the rollmaster single roller before? I've read the timing dot is retarded from the factory? Also that they wear the tensioner out faster because of the chain design.

What's your beef with the 90s? I know they have a high ramp rate but other than that they seem pretty solid.
They are not a heavy enough spring for the xp. You can run them, but it's not that beneficial. I ran them for awhile, but picked up quite a bit of power by switching to 130's.

I would pass on both of those. The flex plate isn't any more reliable than stock from what I've seen. The pump is very unreliable. For a race car only imo.
The meziere plate is worth the money.

Yes, the single roller is terrible. Get rid of it. Either run a new stocker or double roller.

Any autoparts store will.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
Not if you want OEM - it's hard to find.
You know when you have a oem chain when it doesn't fold back on itself

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
Cloyes is typically the brand name at parts stores. Nothing wrong with them.

You know I really hate posts like these.
Can you explain why he should run a 130# spring?

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?
that valve is fubar. time to pull that head off and check things out.
ever eat a spark plug? maybe the valve and seat got damaged form one being eaten, or god forbid a chipped piston, when they chip they go out the exhaust valve and its chomps on the pieces. after i chip showed up, my exhaust valve didnt not seal at all.
all them bumps are piston chips eaten up.

Re: Getting ready for cam, need suggestions
I was really hoping you wouldn't say that, Ive never done heads before on a car. If these heads are shot I do have a set off of my old blown up block. Ive heard so many horror stories about people doing head gaskets and they never hold, and I just have back luck in general when it comes to heads from my racing wheeler.
