I order a case (6 32 ounce bottles) of Torco Accelerator. It raises the octane in increments of 5, so if you add 8 ounces to 5 gallons of gasoline then the resulting octane is 96, 16 ounces added to 5 gallons makes 101 octane, and 32 ounces added to 5 gallons makes 105 octane. I think 105 octane is the limit because if the blending guide was linear then it would only take 24 ounces to make 105, and 32 ounces would make 110 octane.

Several weeks ago I ran my car with a 3.0" pulley and 15* of timing. I maxed out at 6.2* of KR. I'm going to the track next weekend, and I don't want to over-mix, so I can use it for a long time.

The question is: does raising the octane by one point deduct one degree of kr?

I have enough concentrate to mix 60 gallons of 101 octane, but if 96 octane will get the job done, then I have enough to treat 120 gallons, and it wouldn't be hard for me to justify adding it to every tank of gas.

When it says increments of 5, it is usually .5 octane.

I think that is true with the cheap "octane booster" I have more faith in this stuff.

Torco is real octane booster, not that cheap crap you buy at the parts store. This stuff really does raise octane rating by the amount given.

Octane rating and knock do not go hand and hand like that. Getting 5º of knock on 91 doesn't mean you'd see 3º with 93 octane.

Do some math and run around 98-100 octane and see what happens. I think you'll have to up your pulley size in the end because 6º of knock on a 3.0 pulley is alot. It's more dangerous than 6º on a 3.4 because of the added boost pressure.

I have the 3.2" pulley on now, and driving around town with some highway pulls, I don't see more than 1* of kr with 15* of timing. The next track day is Saturday the 13th, and I think I have enough gas in my tank to make it there, while being almost empty of the 91 octane. looking at the conversion chart, 101 octane is the happy medium, as getting 105 octane takes double the amount to make the 101 blend.

for some reason, when i'm at the track, I don't see near as much kr. last time I went I had like 2 blips of 1* of kr. that was with the 3.2" pulley and I think my max timing ended up being 19*. and I was running 96 octane then. this is the reason I want to try the 3.0" pulley.

Go to a 3.3 and add some timing and you might like it better

Well stop driving so fast, save some gas mileage and use that money to get a 3.3...
