I have an '04 GT, probably ever other time i start it the rpm gauge goes up like it normally does but then it just goes back to zero and it doesnt start, so I end up having to give it gas to turn over. Once the car starts its fine. Is that just a spark plug problem? I dont know cars very well so Im jsut searching for advice.

    -thanks!

It is more likely a fuel issue, when you press down the gas and start the car, the computer actually pulls fuel from the engine's normal amnt......

Do you have a Check engine light? Id so, have the codes read
Is this always, or a one-time deal?
    Was it extremely hot/cold?

nope no service lights, its runs perfect. aside from the turning over problem once in awhile, sometimes on start up it idles a few hundred rpms higher than normal but it goes away after I put it in drive. ( 87k miles btw)

Did you ever find out what the real issue was. My car is acting the same way.

Check for fuel pressure to before start up. If you don't have enough it can't start.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
