So i haven't even been under my car yet, but i was looking down in the engine bay and saw the oil filter . Looks to be in a weird spot.

Is it that hard to get at, or was it just the angle I was looking at it. Looks like part of the front suspension is in the way.

Oil change is coming up and I always do it on a lift with the oil tray underneath, just wanted to make sure i don't make a mess everywhere in their shop.

    Thanks

Just turn the wheels to the right and it's easily accessible through the wheel well.

The control arm is a little bit in the way. It will get some oil on it, but that's about it.

It's not hard. I hate changing the oil filter on my wifes "Crapalier", makes the impala seem like a cake-walk.

a little fact for you. you can use an oil filter from 98-99 Chevy Blazers... they are longer, and will offer more filtration.

I have used them since I found out way back when.... and really like them.

Should be able to use any filter from the 4.3L. S-10s, Silverados, Blazers, etc.

Would you have to add more oil to the crankcase due to the larger filter?

It's not that much larger. I usually only use about 4.5qts. Now I use about 4.6-4.7 qts. I just fill it until it's at the top of the hash marks. Then I check it the next morning, and it usually never moves.

yeah, 4.5 is the spec, but mine takes 5 to the top of the full range (with the longer filter, which does hold a little more).

I don't mean to resurrect an old post, but I just changed my oil and could not find any info if the longer filter would work, so I went with the shorter filter, and just now found this. So the longer filter actually does fit in a supercharged car? There is not much room left in there, and I was worried about the longer filter maybe hitting on suspension travel. Is anyone using the longer filter without any problems on the supercharged?

It's alright to bring back old posts if your question or comment is worthwhile IMO...its the people that say pointless crap unrelated.

As for your answer, AC Delco did make a PF52 or PF52E filter but it was discontinued last I checked and if used on our cars, they worked...but like you said...suspension travel. I've seen a few WBody's that have tore their filter to kingdom come because all their mounts weren't in good shape. I'd stick with just a PF47 or the equivalent...I use a K&N HP7001...or 7002...whatever it is.
