I have a 2007 Grand Prix GXP. Remote start. None of the buttons on either of my keyless remotes are working. They just stopped all of a sudden one day. I have replaced the batteries in both of them and it still doesn't work.

It sounds like there is something going on with the 'receiver' side of the process. Is there a fuse? Where is the receiver? Is there an antenna?

Thanks for any information or ideas anyone may have.

My 04 receiver went bad with all the same symptoms. Mine was in the dash but I believe yours will be in the trunk near one of the speakers. I bought after market. Ended up cheaper than the dealer.

I don't see the receiver where you mentioned. I only have a Monsoon amp there.

Does anybody else know where this receiver is?

Also is there a fuse for it?

I'm sure there's a fuse for it somewhere. Pop open your owners manual and see which one it is.

Thanks for the response but yes I have looked at the owners manual and the 'labels' on the fuse block but I can't find one for it. I assume it must be grouped with something else.

I've seen where you need to re-program the keyfobs once the batteries have been replaced. Might want to give that a shot. Try the steps below and see if they work for you.

GRAND PRIX KEY FOB PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS

    Transmitter Programming
    No Tools Required
In the event that a transmitter is lost, program the old and the new transmitters into the memory of the remote control door lock receiver. Up to 4 transmitters may be programmed.

    Important
Once the keyless entry receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode, the programming of the first transmitter erases all previous transmitter programming information. You must then program all of the transmitters.

Program only 1 vehicle remote control door lock receiver at a time. If you program multiple receivers simultaneously, the same transmitter could possibly be programmed to more than 1 remote control door lock receiver.

    Perform the following steps:

Sit in the vehicle driver's seat. (actually it’s much ezr from the front pass seat)
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Close all of the vehicle's doors.
Remove the MALL PGM fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to Electronic Diagnosis in Body and Chassis.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the ACC position.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder OFF, then back to ACC within 1 second.
Open and then close any vehicle door. You will hear a chime when the remote control door lock receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode. If you do not hear a chime, start again at step 1.

    Important
After 7 seconds, you may hear a chime confirming successful synchronization. After approximately 14 seconds, you will hear a chime confirming successful programming.

Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds.
Repeat step 8 in order to program each additional transmitter.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Install the MALL PGM fuse back into the fuse panel. Refer to Electrical Diagnosis in Body and Chassis.
Validate that all the transmitters that were programmed operate properly. Refer to Keyless Entry System Operation.

You are correct. You can't manually program the remotes for these Grand Prix cars. They have to be reprogrammed by a locksmith, dealer or somebody that has one of those expensive programmers.

That being said. I have replaced batteries in these remotes before and that didn't cause a need to reprogram. Also the batteries were in good shape and they just stopped working on my main remote all at once. The old remote didn't work so I then tried to replace the batteries, but I figured it wasn't the batteries. The didn't slowly get weaker and then stop working, they just stopped working.

Try pulling carpet up in trunk the receiver might be on the wheel well. I only know this because when mine went bad I read forums saying its in the truck after 05. Mine was it the dash behind right wiper on my 04. I knew it was my receiver when I wiggled the wires and it worked a couple more times. Reprogramming will not work. Im 99% its your receiver. Dealer wanted 140 just for the unit plus install if they did it and programming to my phobs. I paid 190 for omega excalibur. More range and more reliable.

The buttons on the ordinary key fobs eventually wear out and need a tiny piece of aluminum foil to be inserted right above the touchpad. I have no experience with remove starters but could it be the same problem?
