The blower motor stops and goes but the electronic readout and buttons always works as it should. It has cut off when hitting a bump on several occasions and usually won't cut back on until another bump is hit.

    Any idears?

Sounds like the blower itself is dying.

If you can smack it back into submission when it's turned off, more than likely something inside it is the issue.

If the car is high mileage and the fan has had a lot of run time, you may have worn motor commutator brushes. As they wear down, they get to a point where the springs that maintain them in contact with the commutator bars on the shaft of the motor rotor can no longer keep them properly seated. Not sure if the brushes are easily replaced on fan motors of the GPs. When the fan is running while parked, poke around any of the wiring you have access to, try cycling the speed control switch, give the fan motor a few thumps if you can (to be honest I don"t know where it is on my 2001 GP SE yet, it hasn't given me any trouble at 119K).
