if I am sitting at a complete stop on a flat lot then take my foot off the brake as the car starts to creep forward it starts to squeal almost like a rubbing noise the pitch will change lower as it stops and higher as it gets from 1 MPH to 2 MPH after 2 MPH it's silent or at least I can't hear it...

    car was realigned, nothing changed...

car had ball joints changed, nothing changed...

    new brakes, nothing changed...

tires have the correct air pressure for the car (30 PSI according to the door sticker)

is this a sign of a bad wheel hub? or something else?

no steering noise causing this, the car is doing this going perfectly straight when this happens...

the noise is only loud enough to hear if I have the window down, it's coming probably from the front drivers side from the sound of it..... roll the windows up I can barely hear the noise inside, but you definitely can outside

this is a 2008 base GP

open the hood and have someone idle it forward while you try to pin point where the noise is coming from... i'm sure you can keep up at that speed.lol

Maybe the pads are dragging a bit. Check to be sure the caliper is able to slide freely. Might be hanging up just enough to squeak the pads until you get moving faster.

ha, tried that before but can't pinpoint it enough without getting ran over!.. it sounds like its coming from around the axel... its not a rubbing metallic noise but like a rubber noise (like a rubber ducky squeak but drawn out and one long noise like sqqqqqueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk until the car is fast enough)... it's hard to explain... I need to somehow record the noise...

it's only when the wheel has a load on it, no load it's silent

if it needs a load to make the noise it more like the bearing has no lube or is going out.

It made that noise for the first few feet you drove after its sat and cooled down, and on turns.
Going through parking structures was always interesting. It was pretty loud echoing through the whole level, people would often look at what was making that odd noise.

sounds very close to what I am hearing, probably a bit different since it's probably not the same design wheel hub on an 08 but it seems like the hotter the engine bay gets the more it will squeal, it will some when cold but when warm its louder

sit on the car with hood popped and let it go the 2 mph. thats only thing i can think of. My car did this, when it was going below 10 mph, apparently one of rear trailing arms was upside down?? Doesn't make it anymore, but happened after i put the trailing arms in.

I'm really thinking its the front driver wheel bearing now, I noticed it today going about 15 miles an our a squeak squeak squeak with the wheel turning... almost like just part of the hub is bad when it rubs that part, but that's odd since below 5 mph how its just a consistant squuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeak until it stops,,, and consistant until it gets about 10+MPH then starts the squeak squeak squeak, at about 20mph it goes away compeltely

I normally get more noise going faster with wheel hubs can get a set of wheel hubs for 50-60, but thats my .02.

yeah, hubs aren't to expensive... trying to be a bit cautious about this though since I already replaced a sway bar, sway links, two ball joints..... adds up fast ha... need to record the sound, been raining for days though so never get around to it
