See posts 3-19. We discussed any and all possibilities.

Just trying to understand why it happened and what I need to do to fix it.
Did you do what post #2 asked?

Yes, I've already done what post#2 suggested. He offered to straighten the wheel, albeit at my expense. Is there any component in the steering system that could be failing that would cause this to happen?

Jack it up and make sure the rack bolts aren't loose. Look over the various things like the tie rod ends and inners etc. Wiggle the wheels while it's up. If you don't find play.. sorry to say, but it was in your head.

Either that.. or your car is so rusted the subframe moved when it was jacked up..but then..it would have moved as you went over good bumps.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Well, here's where I'm at with this so far. Took it to Sullivan Tire and had it looked at. They found the fasteners for the struts loose which also caused the camber to come out. The holes in the struts should be slotted so that the camber can be adjusted. They are round. I had the car to the Buick dealer two years back for replacement of the wheel hub assemblies. At that time they informed me that I needed an alignment. I said perform the alignment. Because the strut holes are round and not slotted I now wonder what the specs of the alignment were when they finished. They never gave me a printout like the one that I got from the tire store. The factory service manual goes into detail about having to slot the holes to be able to perform the camber adjustment. Guess one cannot educate oneself too much in the area of car repairs.
