I went to drive my 99 gtp yesterday and it leaked all the fluid out after I started driving. I know this because there are lines all down my neighborhood from my car. Any ideas what would've caused it to empty so quickly? It was a week prior when I checked the fluid and everything was in order.

I didn't get a chance to see fluid come out. Heard a grinding. Saw trans fluid all over the place and had her towed

I understand you wouldn't be able to see it whilebyou were driving. You asked if anyone had an idea why it puked all over. You would have to have an idea where it was coming out. Maybe you can look around and see an obvious crack or hole.

Probably blew a line out. There are 2 on the trans case and 2 on the radiator. Fill it back up, have someone fire it up while you look.

I think FordMan is on the right track. The lines have a little retaining clip on each end, if the clip breaks or comes off, the line can pop out and pour fluid out. New clips can be found in the "HELP!" section of auto parts stores.

Likely the transmission lines rusted out, but as they said, you need to get under there and check.

Update: It was the input axle seal. Chipped the hell out of the crank case but got it out. Ant ideas on how to put the new seal in without a press?

clean the hole there. then grease the inside if the hole with grease, just a thin smear.

then you want to find a socket that is the same diameter as the seal and then tap it in with a hammer.

if you dont have a socket that fits, or another slug to hit you'll have to very carefully tap it in with a hammer evenly. if it bends, its time for another new seal. they need to go in flush and clean.

I'm gonna try using my 35mm axle socket. Hopefully that'll do the trick

i just hammered in front and rear crank seals the other day, they both had a rather thick edge and i just tapped them both in pretty easy.

your old one looks to have that same thicker outer edge.

I just replaced mine yesterday. Used a pipe fitting that is same diameter. Just happened to have it laying around. Its like 3 inches on one side, and 2 something on the other, a reducer for pipe. I can take a pic if you want, but its probably too late...

It was a bit of a bear getting that seal out though.

35mm socket will be pushing on the inner part. You want something that sits on the outer lip.
