So, I've come across 2 new problems on my 07 gp. The first is when I put the car in reverse it sounds like the right wheel pops. I have no idea why it does that. Second thing is I just got in my car to drive home and put it in drive, hit the gas, it made a gear grinding sound and the tcs came on. I think my cv joint is going out but any info would be great, thanks guys.

I'd jack up the front of the car and shake things down, check bearings and ball joints/control arm bushing for wear.

Full tie rods on both sides are brand new, everything else is factory, lower ball joints are neext on my list unless I need to change cvs right away.

My 00 GT is making a popping noise on the drivers side right now when going into reverse and I know it's the CV axle. The pass. side did this for a while until I broke it one day. I'd def. do what FFDP said and get it in the air and check for play. Also may want to check the front sway bar for cracks. Not sure if they are like the 97-03's, but those were prone to cracking at the endlinks.

If you plan on doing ball joints, then just get the entire control arm. That way you have new control arm bushings and ball joints at the same time. Check RockAuto and Amazon for some decent prices.

If the axle is shot then grab a NAPA axle as they seem to last pretty well.

I have the supercharged gt, does it matter which cv I get? I see the ac delco cv says it's the hd version, do I really have to pay 500 for a cv or can I get the cardone one with the hd boot on it?

Ok, it's doing it in forward and reverse now, could it be the transmission?

lower engine and tranny mount? dog bone bushings? check any of them?

pop the hod, shift it from P to R then to D back to R, watch the engine, how much is it moving?

No offense, but I don't see how the mounts are making a grinding gear noise, it sounds like it's coming from the right front wheel.

id get some one to shift in in and out of gear while i watched the cv joint. if your up on ramps you could get under there and maybe pin point where the sound is coming from.

you can put your hand on the tranny and feel it for the pop sound too. stuff like that, your the eyes and ears, were not with the car. so everything is a educated guess at best.

Every symptom I looked up on the cv joint is what's going wrong with my car. This whole time I thought it was the suspension and have been working on it, but it's the cv joint. I think...

I have the 3.8 supercharged, is there a specific cv I need or will the regular cardone work?

Just get the one that fits the supercharged engine. The transmission is a 4T65-E HD.

The tires have been on the list, just haven't gotten there due to previous problems.

Are the cv joints swappable from left to right? I'm failing to find a supercharger specific one for the left side. I know the 66-1256 is the supercharger specific right side version but Idk where the left is, or does it really matter?

Drivers side(left) is the same on pretty much every single 2nd gen w-body car. The passenger side(right) is different on the supercharged cars. CARDONE SELECT 661256
