Correct, but w body part lol. Off my 02.

It's interesting how that goes together, then I can't figure out how to get it back out, or how I even got it in lol.

i watched a vid for the ford one, (looks just like that too) looked like a pita.

there is a how too here somewhere to rebuild a cv joint. seems you need some grease to hold the balls in place.

I'm not looking forward to putting it back together.
Only reason I disassembled it to do the boot was because I need to get all the old grease out. Otherwise the shaft just slides out (while releasing a clip) to change the boot.

I suppose I could have left it assembled and used a blow gun then a pressure washer to force all the grease out lol. But it has to be pre greased also. Hmm maybe still possible.

i think it was james(turbojames) that commented in a thread, that it takes very little grease in there...and that too much you end up slinging it out and etc.

Hmm. Well this time around I don't see any rips in the boot, but it leaked half the grease out of somewhere. I guess it doesn't need the whole packet, but I'd be surprised if it somehow came out of a new boot.

I'm sure the only reason this boot leaked is because I've been keeping up with Michigan left lane traffic a lot lately lol.

That's why I bought a Hayne's manual, step by step instructions for even the most mechanically un-inclined. lol

There's an entire 3 pages on doing the cv shafts, I just didn't have the time.

I'm trying to find someone who doesn't want hundreds of dollars for a front set with covers.... you just have to replace the lock springs I believe, can be done yourself - although I've never done airbags, but I have friends who repair salvage vehicles and they have. New things to do and learn, lol.

Depends on so many things.... how much, where it's wrecked - options, modded, color, ect. the one you looking at on CL? I was told to take 20% off of KBB for a cars worth fixed, although that does vary a lot, salvage title on a $3k W-Body doesn't impact worth a lot, a $40k pickup it does. G8s are a quite a desirable vehicle though, especially low mileage ones bring good money on auction sites, but they're worth good money fixed too, so... Fixing wrecked cars...., is exciting (especially when the rad support is fricked up [2x Prixs like that]), I've wrenched and swore enough at 'em the last couple years, lol.

I saw a few on cl but my friend has a wrecked 94 Toyota celica. The milage is low and the wreck wasn't bad at all it just set the air bags off and the front headlight assembly is broken. Some of the cars had problems before the wreck too though...

Ah. Yeah, especially with insurance auctions, you really have no idea on the history of the vehicle, lol. That's why I wanted one that didn't look to have been modded.

Got the joint back together. Trick is one at a time and the one your putting in has to be centered just right. Put it all back together late last night, just gotta refill the trans and clean up my mess lol
I ended up putting the rest of the grease packet in there, it all went in the joint. I'm sure some will go to the boot when I drive.

over a year ago I painted these SPO grills again.
They were the plated nickel. I painted them previously and they chipped like a woodpecker had at them.

Last time it was a plastidip primer coat followed by duplicolor and and clear.
It took a lot of base coats to even out over the plastidip.

    Not a chip anywhere

Battery died in the 06 when I was leaving a friend of a friends house after working on his truck. I had locked everything up before hand, and he wasn't home, but luckily left his keys under the seat of his truck and left it unlocked. Found a key on his ring to re-open the garage and get a battery charger to jump it. Did a celebratory burnout on the way home, hopefully it left some marks because everyone elses burnouts have been lol. They recently redid a road near me, nice and bright white concrete. Over the course of about a mile section they did, there are probably like 8 burnout marks real dark that have been there a long while and they aren't fading at all lol. I want to check later if I laid any rubber permanently. I'll drive by it all the time and go, and that one was from me when my car almost stranded me. lol

Anyway I'll have to see if I can get a coupon code for a battery at Advance. All the old ones are expired or have a limited use.

Yeah Russ no kidding, I thought it was a Taurus at first glance lol. But Then I noticed it wasn't all rusted out (not possible in michigan) and gave it a second look lol.
