See 06 3800s can have plastic gaskets, its an early 06 made in 05. Oh well I've done a few, having a supercharger on top can't make it much different

i've suspected my tranny has been slipping a bit when starting from a dead stop under light throttle. it was about half a quart low on fluid so i put 16 oz of lucas trans fix in it. felt better almost immediately. i was shocked it actually seems to work. i'll definitely be adding a bottle when i install the transgo shift kit.

Just be glad its not like the 4L60E where it just loses 3rd and subsequently 4th for no reason, out of no where with no warning. When my brother called me I was hoping it might just be a low fluid issue, but was quickly found out not to be the case.

They do show signs before the clutches completely fry, burnt looking fluid and minor slipping. Very common failure really.

It's definitely a common failure from what I found online, however there was zero warning. The fluid doesn't look all that bad either. Only 91k miles on the TB too. From reading other posts around the net many others had it happen out of no where without warning too.

In the end, it sucks that it happened, but I am glad it happened to my brother and not while my sister in law was driving with my niece and nephew or something. She probably would have panicked and not known what to do.

Passed a white 99-04 mustang gt on the way to work and then he tried to pass me back. That didn't work out well for him either time he tried lol. I love my turbo car. Pissed a chick off on the way home from work too. She was in a g6 driving 50mph so I passed her. She then rode my ass so bad I couldn't even see her headlights. Then she tried passing me back and I gave it slight throttle to keep her beside me. She tried again, same outcome. I laughed and laughed lol

i did a pan drop and filter change about 2500 miles ago (with 117500 on the car ) before i even put the car on the road. the fluid looked pretty good and the pan was pretty clean. i don't know if it's ever been changed before , but the trans coolant line was leaking , so maybe the P.O. just kept refilling it and that's why the fluid looked good.

Oh sorry didn't mention, this is my 06 sc gp. The small pit near the sealing surface worries me

    That's what I was thinking.

My boss has used jb weld to fill it in and smoothed it out flat, looked like it was never there minus the slight color change. That's probably a decent option

    Don't ya love Dexcool?

As for what I did, I went over to my uncle's where we were working in my brother's Trailblazer and worked on getting more stuff off so it would be about ready to come out when my brother got home. When I stopped all that was left was the top two and bottom two bellhousing bolts. I had them broke loose so when my brother got home from school it was just a matter of removing them then easing the trans down.

Got it out, wiped it down, then put some cardboard and a tarp in his trunk and set it in there and bungeed it in place. If everything goes to plan he'll leave school early tomorrow, drive to the guy to exchange the bad trans for a rebuilt one, get back here and we can hopefully get it up in place tomorrow evening and most of the way bolted in.

I'll probably go over Wednesday and try to button up as much as I can and we can hopefully have it back on the road by Wednesday evening.

I used a metal epoxy to patch a missing chunk in the sealing surface for the water pump on the block of a 318. As far as I know, it never leaked again after that.
