LMAO Overturned semi brings up another memory.

My buddy, Jay, and I decided we were going to drive to ATL for a 3000GT/Stealth meet. We were taking his VR4 and he got to my house at 10pm. We had both worked all day and were both tired, but he said he was literally about to pass out, so I took the keys first. I was going to drive til I couldn't drive anymore and wake him up, or stop at a rest stop and sleep.

Well, I going along just fine, but felt my eyes getting heavy. Thankfully something (or someone) woke me up just in time to see an overturned semi completely blocking the right lane. I was doing 75+ mph at the time so had I not woke up, it would have hurt BAD.

Luckily I was right at the Virginia/NC border and there is a rest stop as soon as you cross so I pulled in there and slept for 3 hours because Jay was still not ready to drive. I didn't do too bad. I drove 5 hours before I had to stop, so I had half the trip out the way.

I can flow convo from one day to the next...

This guy and his dad... wait for the part about the dad...

    http://www.4029tv.com/news/what-coul...amage/33418404

...did not have luck on their side. Once again, I did. Bout 3 yrs ago sitting at a red light in a long line in the GT... along comes a dually wheel /tire... rolling along under 10 MPH... spanks the middle of my driver's door and keeps going. Probably fifty cars in sight but it came outta nowhere and disappeared into same. I just drove on, bewildered and with dent.

Tranny oil change on the Prius as it was overdue... despite Toyota's claim the CVT transmission fluid never needs changing, the color of that tranny oil at 129k indicated otherwise. Also fixed a couple squirrelly hood latches that didn't want to shut (replacing the latch on the Prius fixed it, and some pb blaster fixed the LeSabre's hood latch).

Drove the GP today, munched the gas a couple times... Oh, the fun of having no more TCC related KR on the downshift

From Prius trannys to iron heads, we got em all! Hensley, watch them hoods carefully. Every time I hear somebody fixing a hood latch I cringe, seen too many fly up. Sounds like you're the one doing the fixing though, not the problem creating. Either way thats a busy day.

    this inspired me today:

Washed my engine compartment second time this year. Swear that thing gets nastier than the outside does. I'm actually fighting mildew lol. On to the shiny parts once I can move out from under the cypress tree. No I didn't even pull the air cleaner, just rag sponge soap hot water then wipe dry.

I really should do something about the way it looks but if not everything, why any of it? I'm about function over form, just form is how I pay bills. Shes been sitting over 24/7/365 grassy spot over 10 years and my doggone Eddy chrome is even rusting. Don't affect goin fast though. Can't believe I'm lettin you guys peek under her skirt like this... don't mind the crust and crude engineering.

i had the hood of this monster fly off and hit the windshield and blow off to the pass side where it landed in the shoulder, i was doing 70 mph.

the front grill, rad area needed new support bushings and was moving back and fourth, then the air got under it and tore it the f off.

worst part was it was pouring out and i had to go walk back and get. they dont make that hood no more. my boss would have killed me for getting it lol

Finished up the final 5 coats of lacquer clear today.
    That is 2 clear, 4 black/clear, 2 clear --wait 24 then 5 coats clear.
Wait a couple few weeks and sand/polish.

Thanks to Matt (aka idrivejunk) for the advice and encouragement.
Did them with the Harbor Freight purple gun....next time better paint

my steering gets so firm now when the abs lights come on. the main reason for fixing this 5 year old issue lol

i think the flooding it got years back caused it.

spazz them look plenty juicy, you done alright by me. No worries, if you like the way they look you can always lay urethane paint over the top of that. In normal base / clear systems, the base color is still... lacquer. Or in some states latex but never mind that. But yeah, 2K stuff should go right over that if'n you prefer. No losses just practice and hell they look fine.

I started hearin thunder so I quit and went in. Another odd lighting scenario to obscure the true color, ha. Naw, my arrowhead was faded silver so I took the plastic out and stripped it best I could, hit the cross with a fine Sharpie, and fogged black and chevy orange on the backside both at once, followed by black. Meh. Dark IS better and its red-esque. Also touched up the black on the driver's side grill at bottom and scrub-padded the pollen outta the grilles. Scrubbed bugs off windshield n front end, cleaned out right park lens. No wheel love today but I got bird crap off it and some mud. Loves my GP.

Dig the lack of chips. Drove this like 80K now, never kindly. Shot in 02, this front stuff is non buffed. As-shot. Good paint does go a long way.

Heres that dinker-doo from Mother's day, the hole and wavy parts down low. Again, meh. Didn't snag the mitt, vuggit.

Serves me right... got cornered by one guy at the gas station about the GP, had to show me his project pics and get one of my work shirt. Shopping cart gathering dude was next, he had two Novas and that whole car would shake from the lopey 454 blah blah talked all the way into the store. First guy said my car would have won two shows in my town today and while I doubt that and am weary of being approached by talky strangers... lookers got ta get looked at as Festus would say. Errands done, I think I'll go ponder her future and putt around, maybe poke into town a little. Need a pair of 245/60-15s to start, and to fix a jingly shock mount. 2002 GP fuse box, tail sockets. Weld up a header leak, strg box leaks, etc. Mainly drive it more.

Changed rack out today. Then proceeded to convert my factory fuel system to accept a external corvette style filter and got rid of all the 5/16 feed line there was in the canister

boy did you call it. abs failed the self test today. damn bummer.

but i did install a new pair of tie rod ends, and all of my new chrome lug nuts.

car goes pretty straight too. did one side at a time, made the wheel and the car go straight before starting the other side. then repeat.

got the first part of my exhaust welded. just a v band to the flex. nothing else is off the car. my friend was doing some welding and they were looking ok, im like ok, next job, you doing my flex.... so told him how i wanted him to spot weld it all around and then fill in the blanks little by little.

looks like it should hold up.
