Re: What did you do to your boat today? Vol 2.0
i know i can get one whole side off the ground with one floor jack located at the rear sub frame bolt. if the back wheel is still touching, just go pinky finger lift it up lol
your X rotation could still be done easy enough with two jacks, what ever works better, one jack lifts the front or rear, then jack the side you need to swap.
Re: What did you do to your boat today? Vol 2.0
New tire design is so much better now than it was 10 years ago it's not even funny. Not many run just full metal cords, most are a mix of metal and like a nylon type fabic weave.
To properly rotate the tires you do want to have them spinning both ways for roughly half their life. We always rotate in a modified X pattern to keep wear even and stop cupping on the inside or outside of the tires. Some vehicles run so much negative camber that is will chew through tires in half the mileage if you left them running the same way for the life of the tire. (directional tires of course you can't or staggered tires just go side to side)
FWD is fronts straight back and cross the non-drive wheels.
RWD is rears straight up and cross the fronts to the rear.
AWD is either or, or just do an X pattern all the time.
Re: What did you do to your boat today? Vol 2.0
Yup, that's what I've always done at work. I remember that the non drive axle crosses. On a lift it's the easiest way to rotate tires. Take one off and drop it, then the other 3 you can lift off and carry it to the correct spot. Last tire you have to pick back up.

I dripped tears on my GT because it's not running. That's what I did this morning lol.
Re: What did you do to your boat today? Vol 2.0
Washed my GP yesterday and got her all shined up. Lookin good. Also got the new interior carpet installed in the 03 Malibu. Made the father in law do the cutting around the center console since it's his car. So if it got screwed up, it wasn't my fault lol. It went in ok. Just needs some time to relax and it'll look better.

I got a visual confirmation on just how broke my struts/springs are today.

Now I remove the ~200lbs of tools and gear (which is not that much considering how much I've had in the back of the car at once)

I started ordering coilover parts today. lol

Re: What did you do to your boat today? Vol 2.0
What is the interval for the oil change reminder on an 03 GP SE? I usually change my oil at 3k, and I still have 800 miles to go until 3k miles, and my light come on. And what is the system that senses the old need to be changed?
Re: What did you do to your boat today? Vol 2.0
It just goes by drive cycles and miles. Maybe temperature. You need to reset it every time you change the oil, or it will just come on whenever it thinks it should be changed based off when it was last cleared.

The garage looked like poopie after moving in Oct, then it was pretty much winter. Fought the Sunday crowd at Menard's and picked up a sweet plastic shelf, lol. It can hold me even though it's so cheap and crappy.
Got sick of finding stuff in this sh*t during the great brake fiasco.

Stood on the 3rd shelf to put the bike hook in. Wasn't too wobbly, lol.

Re: What did you do to your boat today? Vol 2.0
Jumped the border last night to pick up my warranty HP3 led's, as well as a Dorman ABS harness. Now to pray for the rain to stop for a few hours.
Re: What did you do to your boat today? Vol 2.0
Started digging into the horn harness to see what I could find... So much confused.
For starters, what should be the horn control wire, which is dark green, goes to the Fan 3 relay. The wire that is connected to M8/horn relay output is a grey wire... But the rear of the fuse block doesn't have wires where they should be, and has extra wires going to who knows what. I'm pretty sure that the fuse block is just straight through, but considering how much is misplaced/not connected... I'm surprised that it's only the horn that doesn't work.
I'm gonna start documenting what I find, just for curiosity's sake.
Oh, and the wire that I originally believed was for the horn, it's blackened under the insulation. IDK how far it goes, but I've cut at least 9 inches back and it's no change. I might end up splicing and re-pinning A LOT of stuff... Guess it's one way to learn. Lol
