Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Worked on my GTP all day Sunday. Got a lot done: smooth idler pulley, grooved idler pulley, s/c tensioned pulley, trans pan drop, trans filter and o-ring change, TransGo shift kit install, trans mount. Removed both valve covers, gonna do the gaskets for those this week.
Took a lot of parts off to clean, sand, and spray down as well. Took of the dog bones, engine mount brackets, alt. bracket, and some other stuff I’m forgetting.
Dropping the pan revealed some bad news…. (I think). Fluid was rather burnt, magnet was coated thick with clutch material, and it looks like metal flakes had collected on the bottom of the pan. I started a thread about this in the trasmisiion section.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Well the motor mount wasn't the fix to the issue with the Impala.
However....we got it figured out and problem solved.
Yes, I traded the Imp in on this beauty. They gave us what we wanted for trade and it was gone and out of our hair. It wasn't worth the $200 more I maybe could have gotten private party to chance it acting up on a test drive and dealing with it.
I do miss Caroline, it was kinda hard driving away and leaving her there. *As I tell myself....Danielle, it's just a car*
Anyways, meet the new whip, 2008 Acadia SLT in pearl white (I don't know the exact name). Has all the goodies except navi. Double moonroofs (which is pretty neat), dvd, leather, remote start, captain seats in the center. All the seats fold down, it's amazing how much room is in there. It's experienced "farm wife" life to the max this weekend. Delivered many meals and ran people to and from field to field. It's way more vehicle that we need at the moment, but it's something new and fun.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
i always like the look of them suv's. good luck with it.
welcome to my favorite brand of trucks family, GMC, the high end GM trucks.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Thanks Scotty! I love it so far. It was the first one we drove and looked at, so kind of impulse buy but it was a deal.
We really wanted a newer (11+) Explorer, but for one with decent miles and options you have to shell out $25k. Not happening.
I like how I sit up higher in it that I did the car. I haven't had to much practice parking in a parking lot with it, and the back up sensors scare me every time they come on, lol. I just have to get used to being in something bigger.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Hopefully whoever owned it kept up on the service on that thing. The early 3.6's are prone to oil leaks from the front cover/oil pan and timing chain failures. Oil changes suck balls to do if the motor is warm.
Overall I hate those vehicles lol. Everything about them is just dumb. Remove the whole front end just to remove the headlight is awesome. I only say this because I've worked on enough to learn to hate them haha.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Those are really popular around here. A person I know totaled one with only a few thousand miles on it. That pearl white won't touch up easy, be careful with the paint.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Exploders you have to remove the bumpers to get the headlights off too. It wasn't so bad untill in '15 with the new style they added 6 lock tighted bolts to holt it to the fender, instead of the pull things like before, shop had to get a 1/4 air impact with some 90 degree air fittings, lol. Oh, and those Explorer/Utility interiors are pretty chinsey, at least they don't break as bad as the Chargers though... Regardless, congrats on the purchase! My Grandma has had an '11 for a few years, and besides visibility she likes it.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Unless its foreign or you up the price range more then likely your gonna have some somewhat cheap interior, a good chuck of cars out there require the bumper to be removed, sucks but ehh not the worse thing in the world.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Yeah, you're right, certain price range these days you're not going to get much for interior quality.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Yup your definitely paying for that nicer quality interior and then there's the added maintenance cost that come along with it, I see it everyday at work and yeah Audi/vw/Benz/BMW etc are very nice cars but ehh I wouldn't want to be stuck with those kind of repair bills. I'd still to my cheaper american cars lol and deal with cheaper interior.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Agreed, electrical nightmares on a lot of those cars. VWs, at least up untill the mid-2000s, were pretty decent though. I know a few people with 2000s Jetta TDIs.
Honestly, just give me a G8, lol, perfect.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
To bad prices folks/dealers are asking for g8s are fcukin ridiculous or else I might already be in one lol

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
That's why my plan is to get a salvage one off one of the insurance auto sites, lol, get into one self-fixed for half of the dealer cost.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
I periodically check on g8s, $26k+ for a g8 with 80k+ miles.. Ridiculous. Of course base v6 ones are cheaper and easier to find but who the hell wants one of those.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
What?
You can buy a 08-09 G8 GT for under 20k all day long, if you can find one. Some dealerships have them for 20-22k with low low miles but nothing over 25k or anywhere close to that.
A G8 GXP is still north of 25k and upwards of low 30's with a 6.2/6 Speed manual option.
Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Maybe I need to do a search again cause I sure as hell haven't seen them anywhere near the price well within 500 miles or so, admittedly I haven't put in to much effort finding one

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Welp seems prices have dropped quite a bit since the last time I checked I did find some in the lower 20k range

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
The camaro has a new Panhard bar, Panhard bar bracket brace, and a relocation kit on the bracket, also includes new moog sway bar end links. Finished installing the new fuel line, pump and tank straps, and it is now leaking fuel from the Return line, so I'm just replacing everything now.
By the time I finish getting this road ready it's gonna be brand new lol.
Did the front brakes on the grand prix, also stock piled a few more parts for it. My boss at O'Reilly is dead - set that the moog problem solver LCA is a waste of money.
