I'll never understand the aversion to belts. I do know a few people so overweight they can't comfortably wear em. No excuse!
Day improving. My bud with the 69 GP up in MO called. He has a Gear Vendors overdrive unit for TH400 I could get for 20% the cost of new. Of course its used and no controller so I'd be switching manually... but I could "split gears" and effectively have a 6 speed OD in the big loud GP for prolly seven bills. Hmm.
Time to stop making mountains from mole hills and get in the garage and under the GTP hood. Decided to kick dining room door open and A/C the garage so theres less to whine about lol.
I was pleased at the auto parts store this morning, they actually had oil and filter for the 455. Amazing. I got to quit whoring this thread and do the member's rides thing instead (or just shut UP lol). Kinda having a repair frenzy atm, trying to catch up so the list ain't so long when weather turns cold.
Filled the tank. Put about 65 miles on it yesterday, gladly some highway miles up to 90 mph lol. On the trip, I drove on dirt roads that were way smoother than a lot of concrete roads by my house.
It's sitting at home. Not even thinking about it. I'm in Tennessee. Having a blast and I have a rental car

Going to have to look at mine tomorrow. Think I got a wheel bearing making a noise.
Wiring my fog lamp switch for drls. Any time the switch is on, key on, just the fogs will come on. Without the use of the headlight switch. With the key off the switch won't turn them on. I wanted them to still be capable of coming on with the car off if I want, so I'm tying the original wire from the headlight switch that enables them as well, with a diode to prevent back feeding to the parking lamp circuit.
you need to power the switch from a full time fuse off the fuse box.
I did key on, because constant power could leave them on when I walk away and the thing won't chime.

Today I pressure washed the aluminum sub frame for the race car after dropping out the whole drivetrain yesterday, removed all sub frame bushings and waiting on new ones to get in on Monday. Installed a new steering gear and Moog outer tie rod ends. installed GTP fuel lines for the new supercharged engine thats going in. Removed the original brake booster for a smaller Monte Carlo 12" booster and separated the old engine and trans so I can rebuild the trans with some goodies
Looks like another free fix with the Dremel tool, wire brush this time. Removed the GTP's ICM and cleaned it, grounds were nasty as heck on module and mount. Pretty sure I had the firing order wrong too. Yikes! A V8 would NOT let me do that. Not totally sure I had it messed up but shes a smoove playa now anyway. Doubt I'll have that uphill missing issue any more, time will tell and I'll hold off on wires for now. Still glad I did new coils, they were ancient. Steering whine is probably next on the annoyance list.
Installed a Homelink module.

And it works!
That's pretty cool! Whats the REC and PLAY buttons do?
Thanks!
This unit is capable of recording multiple "voice notes." Originally, it was in a sun visor so the speaker was only covered by a thin piece of fabric. Now it's hidden behind solid plastic. Isn't nearly as audible this way, but it still functions. Kept the kids busy for a while. I may go back later and drill some holes in a grid to let the sound in/out.
Pulled old tint off, what a pain in the dick that was..had 3 layers in the rear.. Still gotta tackle the rear deck tomorrow.

It's kind of all one unit.

That was the appeal of this module. Not having the voice record feature doesn't bother me at all. Best $6 I ever spent on my car.
Finished my electrical mods. Fogs are now drls with key on, controlled with the stock switch as well as with a diode they come on with the key off with parking lamps on, as its supposed to.
2nd part is a manual dash cam switch. Flip the switch I added and the cam will come on without the key. Good for leaving it on in parking lots if needed. A diode there too to prevent back feeding to the original key on source.
Blue thats pretty cool.
Turns out the undamaged JY fender liners I nabbed are for an SE. Der, diff at bottoms. I made one of them work, again with the Dremel tool. Maybe the fog lamp won't shake so bad now. Thought I'd be on it ten minutes tops but that took a half hour. Just living up to my user name lol
Wanted to wash it since it cleared up.
But my laser thermometer says the tops are 165 degrees.... I'll wait.
