Timing chain missing tooth hitting piston? That's what a friend of a friend said. Any info on replacing like how to videos, estimated cost and time, would be appreciated. 204,000 miles. I need to learn something about it even if I do take it to a mechanic so I know -

Post a video. My wild guess is broken valve spring. If it knocks, find another engine.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

post a vid, rev it to say 3,000 rpm then drop the throttle and let fall back to idle.

Sorry to agree with the rest of the crowd Deb. However, I've had two of these engines in the last year, that's a very familiar sound to me. Start looking for a junkyard motor. Don't spend the cha ching on a rebuild. Don't do it. and I mean don't. ...Did i mention, don't do a rebuild?

doing a engine or tranny swap is a right of passage if you own one of these cars. seems most of us have swapped one or both. ive done both already. and most everything else you can think of that breaks.
