What's up guys. So a couple of days ago I started smelling a light and quick smell of something burning but I cannot find the source and it's really starting to bug the hell out of me. It is not coming from under the hood. From the times that I have tried smelling where it's coming from, it almost looks like it's coming from the rear underneath the car. No smoke and it kinda smells like a plastic burning/ melting. I haven't had a chance to fully look under there yet but the smell is barely there and it goes away pretty quick. Is there even anything plastic or rubber that could be burning or melting in that area? Any ideas? I'm open to ANY suggestions.

I thought of that but haven't checked yet. I just kinda wanted a checklist of what to check for before I get in there. And I don't think it's coming from that far back. Almost on the bottom side of where the backseat is. Oh and also smells more from the passenger side.

please check your rubber hoses, wires, etc. if they are contacting your exhaust then it will burn up.

Not much rubber under the car other than hangers. Id check if you have a leak somewhere in the interior and that it is causing a wire to short? Any other symptoms?

No no other symptoms. Car is running great, temp is right where it should be and like I said, it's a minor smell and goes away pretty quick. Most of the time it is gone by the time I get to the back of the car.

Whenever you are zipping past that stray bag or anything in the road.. look in the rearview to see that it didn't stay with you.

I'm with the guys. Likely you melted a plastic bag.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
