if you find sludge inside the valley just scrap it out. you wont likely find any, or much if you do.

i like to lay shop rags in the valley to catch any crap from cleaning the heads off of old gaskets crap.

all you can do is change to oil more often. that will clean it up. sounds like you got a lifter that bleeds off over night. as long as it stops after a minute or two its ok.

or change the lifters when you do the lim job.

my rockers were solid black and so was the valley. the rockers started to clean up on their own since ive owned it, cause i change the oil.

this is 220,000 miles old. clearly the last 8 owners gave no cares about oil changes, cause many others valleys like like they have a golden oil color to it.

it goes away once car warms up i hope its not a lifter job because im really not familiar with that and may go ahead do a oil changed this week i heard to use mobil 1 synthetic oil to help clean it but not sure also i thought if u use synthetic u have to keep using it an cant go back to regular oil

220,000 wow and its still going strong 3.8 for the win

also i notice in picture the valve cover grommets were blue i been seeing alot of those on the internet but when i look up the felpro brand they are not blue so are those blue ones some special ones or some sort

    my fel pros were blue.

lifter swap is no big deal if your doing a lim job and valve cover gaskets already.

i went and passed that 220 up. and added headers, rockers, and a 3.4 lol mods have been on for a 1.000 miles so far. i just passed 331 last week or so ago.

No. A cheaper way to clean out the engine is to add in a quart of trans fluid.

when you buy the valve cover gaskets they should come with new grommets.

if you plan to change your oil often dont use synthetic oil. any oil on sale is just fine. its all i use. see a sale for oil and a filter for 20 bucks i buy it.

im one of them oil is oil guys. your gonna change it in 3,000 miles use cheap oil.
